If you were to look at New York, you would see a tremendous change in its eco-sphere, in the last 5 years.
Due to Federally funded "renewal" projects, they are killing off green areas to update and install Natural Gas,LNG and sewer pipelines, electrical transmission fields, cable, cellular towers, broadband technologies. All which has taken its toll.
With todays economy, when people are offered money for their land- they take it and run, if they can. For those poor souls, that don't know exactly what they signed- well, they are old enough to be dying soon, and can buy a new car now, so it may not matter. Utility companies are buying houses so they can do their work along their Right of Way. They use our highways, roads and bridges as modes of transportation for their supplies- which follow to off shore pipelines and to other Countries. Not even a discount on it for us.Our drinking water is not monitored. All that's left for us, are the potholes and tree stumps.
Rain storms knock down big, old trees, who's stumps are hollow and blackened, due to soil pollution, leading the way for more construction.
Most pipeline work is being done by non union, transient workers, with little or no experience. Natural Gas can be very dangerous, and if it isn't monitored correctly, there can be devastation. There have been many gas leaks and sewer leaks that we don't know about, that have happened right in our backyards. The only new store fronts are banks and pharmacy's. People are getting sick. Suicide rate has gone up tremendously in the small village of Scarsdale,NY. I am originally a nature photographer, who came upon all this quite accidentally. The landscape has changed, and will be marred forever. If we don't appreciate our environment, someone else will depreciate it for us.
